helpful hints: subterranean termites

  • Repair broken windows and weather stripping around doors and windows
  • Eliminate moisture build-up around the perimeter of your home
  • Repair loose mortar around home foundation
  • Address structural water leaks promptly
  • Utilize non-cellulous mulch in plant beds. If you do choose to use natural mulch, it is important to remove it annually instead of placing new mulch on top of existing mulch based on research.
  • If your home is built with a crawlspace, remove all cellulous debris from under the home where in contact with soil, this attracts termites.
  • Clear gutters of debris
  • Have your home inspected annually by a knowledgeable and qualified person
  • In Florida, be sure to maintain a subterranean termite warranty on your home.
  • Contact us at 239-543-3100 for more information and to see if your home qualifies for the Sentricon System.

The ‘Myth’ of Swarm Season:

  • Swarm season is bit of a misconception. This refers to the time of year, where termite colonies make their “nuptial, or “mating” flights and only refers to that.
  • Please remember, swarm season is the time you are likely to see the actual termites flying; However, termites feeding on your home is always in season.
  • These insects are active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks out of the year, especially in Florida.
  • THEY NEVER SLEEP, OR STOP EATING. There is no ‘Season’ for their feeding.

How to Distinguish Termites from Other Insects?

Termites are often mistaken for Ants and can be identified based on the following features:
  • Swarmer termites (alates) have long wings with respect to their bodies whereas ant’s wings stop at the back end, or only slightly past their bodies.
  • Common for many to ‘swarm’.
  • Ants have a tapered waistline, while termites have a thick one.
  • Termite wings are equal in size, while ants are not.
  • Termites have straight antennae and ants are slightly elbowed.

Sentricon© System with Always Active© Technology

Eliminates the queen and the colony.

Sentricon gets to the queen, using top of the line bait stations to eliminate her and the colony.
Sentricon has superior efficiency.
It is undetectable to the termites, which is what leads to elimination of the colony.
Termites can’t resist the Sentricon. Studies show that they would prefer to eat our bait than wood.
Sentricon is only available through certified specialists. It’s only offered by 3% of pest control operators in the United States.
